Product Description

Style: Heller Bock • ABV 6.5% •

The classic example of one of the great beer styles in the world of beer. Brewed according to its original recipe of 1378.

Einbecker Urbock is the classic and original “Bockbeer”. Brewers {mostly female} in the town of Einbeck in Lower Saxony, Germany, created it back in the 14th century. In the Middle Ages Einbecker Bockbeer became so popular that it was even shipped on a long journey to the royal court in Munch . There it was known as “Ainpoeckisch Beer” or simply “Einbock” , a reference to its origin and from which its modern name is derived. Without Einbeck, the German bockbeer style would not exist today!

The original Einbecker Bock was strong, malty in the aroma, and yet hoppy in the finish as it was designed to be sent long distances from Northern Germany to Scandinavia, Netherlands, and Italy fermenting out on their way.

True to its classic design Einbecker Ur-Bock Dunkel is tawny to dark brown, with a dry, very intense malt character and a long hoppy finish. Both its intense maltiness and hop bitterness show distinctly in the nose. After primary fermentation of 10 days at between 45 F and 50 F this classic bottom fermenting Bock Beer is matured for another four weeks. Available in bottles & kegs.
