The Few Standard Issue Gin is an homage to the days of the Royal Navy, and its daily rations of gin to its sailors. Every day, each sailor got a ration of gin to help ease the pain of being at sea for months on end. This gin was rationed at 114 proof, so that if gin were to spill onto gunpowder, the gunpowder would still ignite. The sailors were also required to take rations of quinine to avoid malaria in the tropics and lime to avoid scurvy, and this gave birth the classic gin and tonic. We strongly suggest trying the Standard Issue with your favorite tonic with a splash of lime, and enjoying on a summer day – preferably on land!
The Gin itself is a classic, citrusy gin with prominent juniper and lemon notes. Despite its 114 proof, it drinks quite smooth by itself, but is intended to be mixed. And, like all Few products, the Few Standard Issue is a grain to glass gin, with all the alcohol mashed, fermented, and distilled in Evanston, IL.
